Allstate Mayhem Pink SUV

In this Allstate commercial, Mayhem takes on the role of a teenage girl driving a pink SUV. When he learns of her bff Becky’s kiss with Johnny, Mayhem becomes emotionally unstable. As a result, the driving becomes reckless in the crowded parking lot. Another persons car is hit and Mayhem just drives away as if nothing happened.

How does Mayhem represent the stereotypical teenage girl driver? How can the audience relate to the commercial, either by insurance reasons or by car accident reasons? In what ways do the producers draw attention to the commercial? How do the producers entertain the audience so that they pay attention to the entire commercial?

Mayhem in this commercial represents the stereotypical teenage girl: boy obsessed, on her rhinestoned phone, and drives a pink car. Although Mayhem doesn't talk with a girl voice, he wears pink sunglass on his head and says phrases like OMG. I think the producers draw people in to watch the commercial because everyone loves to hear the drama in peoples lives or the mayhem that they have to deal with. So when the commercial starts out with the message tone and then Mayhem saying his a teenage girl you are intrigued to listen since he obviously isn't a teenage girl. I thought it was funny at the end of the commercial that Mayhem winks at the views before going to the AllState logo.

Mayhem represents a steryotypical girl by all the pink and the obsesion with texting and short phrases like bff. The audience can relate because of the large impact texting while driving has on your ability to operate a vehicle. Just throwing emotionally unstable in there makes it a little more relatable for some to teenage girls. There have been studies on tenneagers and their inablility to drive, marketing this, mayhem motiviates you to protect yourself from inexpirienced drivers, who also drive distracted.

Mayhem represents a steryotpical teenage girl by showing all the pink and being obsessed with texting. The audience can relate, because a lot of times when adults think about car accidents, their minds go straight to stupid teenagers talking on their cell phones. The viewer pays attention to the commercial because a grown man in a suit is driving a pink car and acting like a teenage girl, when he clearly is not one. The only thing that does not make sense to me in this commerical is that the guy is already bruised up when the commercial starts.

Well, this commercial keeps your attention by having a pink SUV as the focus... really, who drives a pink SUV? The stereotype of a teenage girl driver just adds to the crazy because of the stigma of female drivers, with the added effect of her being a teenager on top. The audience can relate to this because of the chance that they have probably seen somebody like this at some point in driving.

I think it is interesting that when he has the phone in his hand he is drviving perfectly straight. After he throws the phone to the back seat he finally swerves and hits the car.

This commerical grabs your attention right away by showing Mayhem depicting a sterotypical teenage girl. Most people can laugh or relate to this sterotype because at one point everyone has been a teenager and has either acted that way or knew someone who did. While it used the interesting image of a man depicting a teenage girl, I thought it also did a good job of promoting car insurance. The commercial shows a common way car accidents happen and it sells the car insurance by saying that Allstate will be there to protect you when car accidents happen.

I find it very interesting that the guy has cuts and bruises all over his face throughout the whole video. He has them even before he hits the other car which is ironic. However, the physical appereance of the man is affective because it scares parents to think that their daughter could get hurt and that they should always have her covered with Allstate insurance.

Mayhem employs irony to catch the audience's attention. They use the fact that he's a grown man and representing a stereotypical girly girl to grab your attention and I think it was successful. It keeps you watching the commercial and that makes it successful in marketing the insurance.

I think that this commercial was very successful at catching the viewer's attention. The commercail manages to be rather funny while still making the point that car insurance is very importatnt becuause you just never know what may happen. I also think it is interesting how toward the end Mayhem says that if you have "cut-rate insurance" you could not be covered. I think that that goes back to the reason Allstate is advertising so heavily in the first place. They aren't doing so well or at least that is what this commerical leads me to believe. So maybe Allstate is kinda like a teenage girl, just putting up a front to hide its insecurities.

I think that the commercial relates very well with the audience in that it shows that seemingly insignificant events (from the point-of-view of an outsider) can make someone unstable and cause mayhem through short term fits of emotion as the commercial suggests. I think that making the car that got hit owned by a woman added to the overall commercial because it shows that although the victim does not understand the circumstances behind the accident (ands fits of emotion displayed by Mayhem), the victim can relate the the female dipicted by Mayhem to a younger self that went through similar situations and probably reacted in a similar manner thus showing that emotionally-charged actions are short term but can also cause regrettable consequences.

The character Mayhem represents a force creating unfortunate events affecting every day people. Although he acts like a teenage girl in this commercial, he is representing all the bad things that could happen. Allstate uses Mayhem to show the viewers that “shit happens”, so you should be prepared for it. By being insured through Allstate, the customers are preventing Mayhem from having a large impact on their lives by already having a solution for when things go wrong. Mayhem wraps this idea up in the end when he says, “So get Allstate, you could save money and be better protected from Mayhem like me!”

My attention was first caught by the commercial because of the fact that such a manly man is in such a girly setting. His facial expression and voice are in stark contrast to the props and the dialogue he uses throughout the commercial. These differences then intrigue the viewer like myself and make them want to focus and understand what is occurring. In that way the commercial is highly successful because by drawing the viewer from the beginning with this strategy they are better able to get their point across about their insurance.

The audience that this commercial is trying to get at is the typical all-American family who has young children and the producer wants the family to purchase their insurance by using this example as a worst case scenario and how the insurance company will still be there to take care of it. I think the producer does a great job of holding the audiences attention throughout this commercial because it's a grown man holding a rhinestone phone, driving a pink SUV, and talking like a young teenage girl, obviously any watcher is going to continue watching the commercial to see why a grown man would be acting in such a way.

I think this commercial mocks the stereotypical 16 year old girl. They make everything pink with pink sunglasses on the top of his head, a cell phone with shiny things. Then they show what happens when a girl is hit with an emotional struggle and how they can not keep a clear head and deal with the problem and that it could be a hazard if a girl is driving and gets bad news about a boy.

this makes me think of your average high school girl driving a huge car while she is emotionally unstable and involved in typical high school drama. the focus is a pink SUV which makes you wanna know whats going on. plus the "emotional female" is a older male.overall very funny and it makes understand whats going on.

I find it interesting that the guy acting as a girl so easily betrayed "her" friend and started hating her all because a gut likes her instead. I think this is trying to get at the belief that girls tend to be more superficial in their relationships with each other and are easily agitated by one another and stab each other in the back by becoming hostile towards them, usually by saying hurtful things.

Using a person to represent the cause of an accident is a very smart way for the advertisement to get across to people. The fact that he can explain what he is makes the situation seem like something that is somewhat common. Also, he can explain that insurance protects in a situation like this. His demeanor in the clip is ironic because he acts in the opposite way that a teenage girl would.

Mayhem represents the typical teenage girl in that he/she/it? is deeply in to accessories, boys and emotional drama. In addition, mayhem is rather reckless and irresponsible (much like any average teenager). It puts emotion before reason and lacks a great deal of common sense. The audience can relate to the commercial because most people have encountered teenagers with similar dispositions and reckless drivers in general. The creators use a comedic, staged scenario in order to simultaneously entertain the audience members and make them leery of of the possibility of a similar event happening to them. The insurance company then pitches its product by stating that this type of damage is fully covered under its auto-insurance policy. Ultimately, the viewer comes away with a favorable impression of Allstate as a car insurance provider.

Mayhem proved that you need the Allstate full coverage car insurance to cover this kind of accidents and maybe it's will happen to you even when you are driving carefully and making sure everything are fine still you can be hit by a teenage girl represents her bad mood by hitting other's cars in the parking lot .The producers successfully shows mayhem as a typical teenage girl through the pink color of the glasses and the SUV beside showing how is the mood of teenage genders changed frequently and unexpectedly.
